A client requests an investigation via email, phone or the online form.
The Case Manager contacts the property owner and conducts a phone interview.
The Research Team researches the history of the property and determines if there were any incidents which may have triggered paranormal activity. In turn they submit a report to the Lead Investigator.
The Lead Investigator takes the reports submitted by Case Manager and Research Team and plans the investigation, determines which team will conduct the investigation and briefs the team leads. They can divulge as much or as little detail as deemed necessary to protect the integrity of the investigation.
The team leads conducts the investigation according to the plan. They assign roles to investigators on the team and is directly responsible for ensuring that the investigation is conducted efficiently and in a professional manner.
The investigators arrive at the appointed time and introductions are made. The investigation begins with a tour of the property with the owner who points out locations where activity has occurred, describing the type of phenomena witnessed and the approximate date and time it occurred.
An EMF sweep of the property is conducted from top to bottom to establish a baseline reading, to determine if there is excessive stray man-made EMF and to locate possible paranormal EMF activity.
If excessive man-made EMF is detected, instrument readings and locations are noted.
A determination is made at this time if it will be necessary to switch off power to the property later in the investigation to conduct a conclusive EMF sweep.
Tape recorders and video camcorders are deployed at this point to monitor areas where paranormal activity has been witnessed.
After hours of evidence collecting and attempts to debunk some of the reported phenomenon, the equipment is packed up and the team departs the property.
Each team member is responsible for either reviewing all material collected via their own equipment or attending a group review of everyone’s video footage and audio files.
A debriefing is scheduled with the client to go over what the team found, what the team was able to debunk, and any recommendations the team has for resolving any alleged activity. This includes putting the client in contact with experts in whatever respective field they require.
Photography protocol:
Always wear your camera strap or remove it completely to prevent erroneous photo anomalies.
Always check to make sure your hands and fingers are as far away from the lenses as possible.
If others are nearby and are taking pictures as well, warn them before you take a picture w/ flash.
Never have more than one camera taking a picture using flash at the same time.
Always ensure the lens is free of dirt, dust, and damage before the start of the investigation.
Hold your breath a few seconds before you snap a picture in cold weather.
Carry at least one extra set of batteries on any investigation. Battery drainage is very common!
EMF protocol:
Conduct a baseline run of the investigation site before setting up. Note any readings and the precise location.
Never have a camera or other electronic item anywhere near an EMF meter when conducting investigations.
Always record the time and location that an EMF spike occurs. Also record if you see/hear/smell/feel anything abnormal. Take photos!
EVP protocol:
When starting a recording, always state name, location, time, and who else is with you. Ask typical questions. Pause for at least 10 seconds after each question to allow a response to be recorded.
"Is anyone here?"
"Can you give us a sign of your presence?"
"Can I take your picture?"
"What is your name?"
"Was this your home?"
"Did something happen to you here?"
"Do you have something to tell me?"
During an investigation, no smoking, drinking, or horseplay.
Cell phones must be turned off during the entire investigation.
Respect all law enforcement officials and comply with their orders without argument.
Use the 2-way radios sparingly.
No attempting to startle or scare anyone - act professional!
Please keep voices as low as necessary - excessive shouting or noise interferes with the whole group's investigation.
