Hauntings
Disclaimer: The following information was cobbled together from several credible sources,
and I believe reflects the most popular theories and criteria for classification.
Intelligent Haunting
- Entities are aware of their surroundings
- They acknowledge human beings and are able to move around and communicate in certain ways.
- Make attempts to get noticed by moving stuff around, noises, etc.
- Possible reasons for haunting are previous owners, an artifact that they are following due to an emotional
bond to it, possibly looking for something or someone, unwilling to accept that they have died
- greatest ability
to affect our physical world.
- These hauntings often have apparitions, shadow people
Residual Haunting
- Most common type of haunting.
- An impression made in time due to a traumatic event.
- The spirit really isn?t even there, only the energy is.
- Appears in one location and repeats a certain action over and over again.
- Typically the repeated event is whatever the person who left the energy behind did often or a significant
event that they remember happening to them.
- The event unfolds in front of you and there is no interaction between you and the ghost.
- Some researchers believe they are projected images, brought about by the psychic energy stored in the area.
Similar to a video playback of a historic or tragic event.
- This event has been imprinted on the area or building and is replayed back later when conditions are right.
- Theory is that some of the energy from an event can be recorded by certain materials and played back when
the atmosphere triggers it.
- Very little you can do for this haunting except make the family who is having these problems understand
what is going on and explain to them that they are in no danger due to the energy not being controlled by the
person who left it behind.
- It may happen every night or every week or even every year.
Poltergeist Haunting
- From German word meaning ?noisy ghost?
- Reports date back to ancient Roman times
- Most frightening type of haunting
- greatest ability to affect our physical world
- Activity starts off with knocks and bangs, furniture moving by itself, beds shaking. Then the activity will
become more intense, manifesting itself through voices, smells, and apparitions. Turn on faucets, slam doors,
turn lights on and off, flush toilets. Throw things across rooms. Pull on people?s clothing or hair.
Malevolent ones even slap and scratch the living.
- Many poltergeist hauntings seem to center around a female in her teen years. Some cases seem to be caused
by the female unknowingly controlling the energy around herself and using psychokinesis to physically move
objects with her mind.
- Often it seems that one person in household affected by the haunting more than anyone else. It may seem
that most of the activity doesn?t happen unless that person is present. Person may be highly stressed as of
late or maybe gone through some type of extreme emotional situation. If so, see that the person gets some
medical care, and soon afterwards the poltergeist may subside.
- "During a poltergeist experience," writes Lauren Forcella, "the agent, in an attempt to relieve emotional
stress, unknowingly causes the physical disturbances using mental forces. The mental mechanism that allows
the poltergeist agent to unconsciously cause these physical disturbances is called psychokinesis."
- When the phenomenon cannot be explained by psychokinesis, it is usually created by several spirits in the
area. They seem to pool their energy together in order to become strong enough to move larger objects and
make more noise. To remedy, you need to find the root of their anger so the spirits can pass over and leave in
peace.
- On most poltergeist cases they will disappear without any warning, just as they appeared. Some may stop
within a few days, others may take years. You may never know the reason that it happened.
